A quick response to a comment* on the latest "Covid Diary."
Yes. And yes again - we've been had. To different degrees. And if you don't believe me, believe the better-qualified people at the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine. I quote:
" The devastating harms of lockdowns, a policy for which we went on the record on 8 April 2020 as being senseless, are being made clear day after day. We showed that £37 billion Pounds at least were stolen from the Exchequer, which is incapable of clawing back despite a varied zoo of agencies with a wiring diagram which looks like a paint-by-numbers product of the mind of a 5-year-old. The pandemic “nerve centre” looks like the product a 3-year-old drew up or the electronic circuits of a nuclear submarine. We can add another £37 Billion wasted in the mass screening, misusing and misreporting of tests to the pain, grief and suffering of the elderly and their families. Throw in the unreliable pharmacovigilance and the waste, and you have the bankruptcy of a nation and the fragmentation of society.
So who is the enemy? We think it’s clear, not Presidents Xi or Trump, not civil servants or political cronies: we are. We allowed all this to happen, and some governments are backslapping each other about how wonderfully they dealt with the pandemic. While we can only wait for the next time, police will look into our trollies, and drones will be sent to check that we are running appropriately separated."
